After spending years in 30 Odd Foot of Grunts with actor Russell Crowe, guitarist Garth Adam decided to take some of the material that didn't make it to that band and start his own solo project. It began with some home sessions that resulted in a collaboration with friend Paul Hardman. The two men were enamored with the results and released it as a self-titled album. Unfortunately, both Adam and Hardman moved to different cities, and soon Adam found himself ready to write another album without his old partner. Drummer Dave Kelly, also of Grunts, offered his support and was soon drafted in along with Doug Sandrini and Craig Grech of Pure Acoustic to begin work on the next Ether record. Entitled Great Ocean Road, it featured a much richer collection of tracks that put a heavier emphasis on a full sound and detailed playing. The album was released in the summer of 2002 during a down period for Grunts. ~ Bradley Torreano
